Marcus Pummer
Marcus Pummer was born in 1968 in Vienna, Austria where he grew up.
His father Erich Pummer, a glass artist, introduced him to art at a very young age, especially to art nouveau and art deco.
In the mid-1980s, he enrolled with his drawings at the Higher Federal Institute for Graphic Education and Research in Vienna, to become a graphic artist, and then decided to study screen printing and photography.
He then lived several years in New York and Paris where he worked as a fashion photographer. His photos have been published in Voque, Harper’s Bazar and many other prestigious magazines.
In 2002 he worked on the Solo exhibition BACK THEN which took place in Vienna,
The year his son Noés was born.
From 2002 to 2005 he worked in Vienna on numerous artworks for Daniel Swarovski and Swarovski B to B.
Until 2013, he continued to work for Condé Nast publishing.
The series AFADING WORLD was created in 2018 after a trip to Africa.
The subjects of this project is the African wildlife and its extinction.
He has recently begun working with materials such as wood, urushi lacquer and gold leaf.
His latest work, TODAY AND TOMORROW, is a series of portraits with silk-screened patterns of African animals and flora in gold colors.
Since 2010 he has been living and working between Paris and Vienna, combining screen printing and photography in his work.
