Its team of restorers, all passionate and very experienced, master the techniques of knotting and weaving, specific to each region. It all starts with a precise diagnosis of the work in order to determine the cost of the restoration. This varies according to the degree of damage suffered; its size and the nature of the fiber’s and their state of conservation, as well as the state of embrittlement of the wefts.

Like the First Day

The colours of a rug wear out over time and they fade from the mere fact of being exposed to light. In our workshop, we carry out natural dyeing operations and specific treatments to revive the colours. It happens, for old carpets, that the colours no longer exist on the market. Our service recreates colours based on natural pigments such as plants and fruits. Walnut skin, madder and djachir grass… all contribute to the chromatic universe of our workshop.

Cleaning

A PROFESSIONAL AND TRADITIONAL CLEANING OF CARPETS AND TAPESTRIES BY HAND, IN PARIS
Before carrying out a restoration, it is necessary to clean your work.
Specialists in traditional cleaning, the Tahissa workshop has been taking care of carpets for several generations. Our weavers have mastered all the techniques of cleaning, conservation and restoration to maintain various works, whatever the material (wool, silk, cotton, synthetic) and the manufacturing technique: rugs knotted, woven rugs (Kilim, Shaggy), embroidered or tufted.

After a precise diagnosis of the quality and condition of the work, we will choose an appropriate extraction process: Hand wash, steam clean or dry clean:

Indeed, each material requires its own washing technique: dry for silk, and satin… with water for wool and cotton.

We use ultra-modern cleaning accessories with natural products that don’t damage the carpet’s fibres. Our traditional and artisanal processes allow us to maintain old works and the most delicate materials.

Deep Washing

Over time, the layer of dust and particles settles on your carpets and becomes easily worn. This layer is abrasive and damages its fibres. This dust and residue cannot be completely sucked up by a regular vacuum cleaner. It is therefore important to carry out regular cleaning of your carpet.

The preliminary step to any washing is therefore to remove the dust. The tapestries are carefully dusted by micro-vacuuming on the front and back.

It is sometimes necessary, before proceeding with the cleaning, to fix the color to avoid the disgorgement of the natural colors and the mixing of the pigments.

For tapestries, we recommend cleaning with soapy steam to preserve the hold of the delicate fibres. We proceed by the successive cleaning of very small surfaces, on portions of ten square centimeters. If necessary, we carry out several baths in order to eliminate all the residues.

Professional Stain Removal

We treat all types of stains, including the most stubborn: fingerprints from furniture, traces of wear, paint, ink, oil, red wine, tea, coffee, make-up… Whatever the nature of your carpets – long-pile, silk or wool – we overcome stubborn stains resistant to your household products. We also offer anti-stain and dirt treatments and anti-odor treatments to protect your works over the long term. We use natural, environmentally friendly products.

Disinfection

We carry out anti-moth and/or anti-mite treatments to eliminate all traces of them in the wefts of the carpet.

All our disinfectant products are ecological.

Brushing & Combing

The penultimate stage of cleaning is drying. We offer traditional drying on a loom to ensure good air circulation. Another method we use is drying in the open air, depending on the nature and characteristics of your work. In some cases, rapid drying may be necessary to prevent mold and bacteria growth. We can, thanks to high-performance professional accessories, reduce the drying time.
